"The day has just begun, and it's already unfolding. I feel a little happy and a little sad. Everything is about to happen and, at the same time, is already beginning to stop happening."
While It Happens grows out of a practice of attention toward the unnoticed: small variations in light, gestures, materials, and situations that offer themselves in everyday life. Each image is born from a receptive disposition: it's less about finding an image than about letting myself be reached by it.
In this sense, While It Happens extends an inquiry present throughout my practice: how perception can open onto a reality that exceeds what we initially believe we see. The visible functions as a threshold toward something that remains veiled; the image doesn't close off that experience, but keeps it open.
Photography appears here as a way of remaining in the while, that zone in which something manifests without ever fully revealing itself. I share these images with the hope that, meeting the gaze of whoever receives them, what happened might open again in another way, and that, in that encounter, the image might transcend its own limit.
